Courageous kayakers from Firstco paddle for I've Got Guts

They may not all be swimmers but that didn’t stop an intrepid team from engineering company Firstco from kayaking up the River Thames.

The 14 colleagues took to the water at night for their I've Got Guts fundraising challenge in aid of Bowel & Cancer Research - as their chosen charity of the year - and raised a fantastic £780.

The company's Head of Marketing, Nero Ravichandran, said:

Many of us had never done any type of water sport before and some of us couldn’t even swim! But even with the blisters and aches and pains we had the next day, it was worth it for a good cause.

“It was an amazing experience to see London from the water behind all the high buildings – it was surprisingly very quiet.”

Bowel & Cancer Research would like to say a big thank you to the team: Matt, Aaron, Caroline, Rupert, Mike, Carley, Louise, Sadiqa, Andy, James, Richard, Louis, Curtis and Nero.

The staff at Firstco, based in West London, opted to partner Bowel & Cancer Research for 2019.

Nero said:

We’ve done lots for charity before but have never partnered with one organisation. We felt this was a good fit and look forward to raising awareness through the rest of the year

The team are now looking forward to their next challenge - skydiving (but not at night)!
