University student builds app to support cancer community after overcoming his own battle

Jack Morgan, an Engineering Maths student at Bristol University graduating in 2019, has created and launched Cnected, a FREE App to bring together anyone affected by Cancer.

Diagnosed with rare stage III cancer in October 2017, Jack (21) decided to set up an Instagram page to document his journey. Initially followed by close family and friends, itsme_jmo soon attracted some 3,600 followers, comforting and inspiring them with his honest and open approach to sharing his experience.

Following intense and aggressive chemo and radio therapy for head and neck tumours at The Royal Marsden, in May of this year Jack was thankfully given a clean bill of health.

Over the past few months, through my Instagram page I connected with many cancer patients, survivors and family members of patients. I realised how powerful and beneficial social media can be, so I decided to set up a dedicated platform for the cancer community.

Cnected is the world’s first dedicated community for cancer patients, survivors and care givers. It aims to bring together anyone affected by cancer, for FREE!!

In the first 24 hours of launch, Cnected had already attracted support from the worlds of entertainment and sport, including the famous comedian Matt Lucas and the West Ham player Declan Rice.

By bringing the global cancer community together via the Cnected platform, Jack’s aim is to make life easier during the roughest times for those affected by cancer.

It has the potential to positively impact millions of people globally.

We're supporting the app

A diagnosis of cancer is a life changing experience. Living with this diagnosis for the individual, their family, friends and colleagues is one of the hardest things anyone will ever have to do. Joining a community of people who, from experience, know what this is like could make such a difference to people’s wellbeing while dealing with the disease. We hope that Cnected will prove to be a vital resource for anyone diagnosed with cancer, their loved ones, friends and colleagues.
